FRANCO GIANNASCOLI

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Franco Giannascoli on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the age of 94. Predeceased by his late wife Elisa Fagnani; his siblings Adele, Mellina (the late Giuseppe), Elvio (Rosalia), and Alberino (Luciana).

He will be sadly missed by his loving children Adelina (the late Patrick Phelan) and Antonio (the late Linda Pinazza); his cherished grandchildren James, Gregory (Marie Coladonato), Sandra, and Davide; his siblings Carina (Giovanni Bucci), Delfina (Camillo Castagna), Ottavio (Michelina); and many other relatives and friends.

Franco was a devoted father and husband. Before immigrating to Canada in the 1950’s, he learned his trade as a tailor in Italy while working in tailor shops in San Remo and Rome. While in Canada, his entrepreneurial spirit shone through, and for several years, he operated his manufacturing company making leather goods.

He was very fond of his children and grandchildren. He loved all animals and especially his pet cat Mickey. He was a generous man and was always willing to help a friend or family member in need. He was a great neighbor and had many friends of various ethnicities and religious backgrounds. Everyone was welcome in his house, and he especially enjoyed sharing a meal at his kitchen table with friends.

Franco was diagnosed with dementia in 2019 but in his last few years, he still managed to recognize his close family members during visits.

The family would like to thank Yolette and the staff at the CHSLD Joseph-FrançoisPerrault where he was living. Yolette took extraordinarily good care of him.

Visitations will be held at Magnus Poirier Sherbrooke, 6825 Sherbrooke St. E. on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

A ceremony will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. within the chapel of the complex and thence to Le Repos Saint-François d’Assise Cemetary.
