Gianni Ciccone, 62, of Laval, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. In his final days, he reminded those around him to “be there for each other,” a sentiment that perfectly encapsulates the man he was—kind, supportive, and deeply devoted to those he loved. Born on June 24, 1962, in Montreal, Gianni followed in his father's footsteps, mastering the art of stone and brick masonry from a young age. He worked alongside his father, learning not just the craft, but the values of hard work, integrity, and pride in a job well done. Throughout his life, Gianni became known not only for his skill in masonry but for his many passions: his beloved red Camaro, fitness and bodybuilding, enjoying a fine cigar with an espresso, cooking, and his love for spaghetti westerns. He had a taste for the finer things in life and took joy in sharing those moments with friends and family. In the past seven years, Gianni found great happiness with his loving partner, Lucy and her two children Justin (Marilena) and Kayla, who stood by his side, encouraging and supporting him through every challenge. Together, they traveled, learned, and created lasting memories. Lucy remained a steadfast presence, lovingly caring for Gianni throughout his illness and comforting him in his final days. Gianni leaves behind a legacy of love in his three children: Carmine (Rebecca), Gary (Chelsea), and Kassandra, and in his nephew, Joey, of whom he was immensely proud, never missing a chance to express that pride. His most cherished role was being a grandfather. His four grandchildren, Emma, Sienna, Julian, and Dante, were the lights of his life, and he would often share how much they meant to him. His love for them was boundless, and they will forever hold a special place in his heart. He is survived by his devoted mother, Alessandra, his late father Pierino’s beloved partner Francine, as well as his sisters, Luisa and Betty (John), who were by his side every step of the way, providing strength, care, and unwavering support as fierce advocates for his health and experience. Gianni also leaves behind a loving circle of extended family, and friends who enriched his life. Gianni will be laid to rest beside his father, Pierino and birth father Carmine in love, espresso, and a long-awaited game of briscola. A celebration of Gianni's life will be held on October 6, 2024, at Magnus Poirier Funeral Home (address below) between 12pm and 5pm, followed by a ceremony, and reception for immediate family and friends. Please join us in honoring a man whose greatest values were family, friendship, and loyalty. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Gianni’s memory may consider a donation to a reputable Canadian cancer organization of their choice, helping in the fight against this devastating disease. 10 300, Boul.
